Furthermore, the Dafangdeng tuoluoni jing says: 'The Buddha told Ānanda: "If there are parents, a wife, or children who do not allow this person to go to the bodhimaṇḍa, this person should burn various incenses before his parents and others, kneel on both knees with palms joined, and speak these words: 'I now wish to go to the bodhimaṇḍa; in your pity, please grant permission.' He should also advise and enlighten them in various ways, expounding the Dharma as appropriate, and should petition them three times. If they do not grant permission, this person should silently contemplate in the home, reciting and holding the scriptures."' Furthermore, the Saddharmasmṛtyupasthāna-sūtra says: 'If a person makes offerings to a Dharma master who expounds the Dharma, you should know that this person is making offerings to the present Bhagavat. Such a person, in accordance with what he offers, will have his wishes fulfilled, up to the attainment of anuttara-bodhi, because he is able to make offerings to a Dharma master who expounds the Dharma. Why is this? Because by hearing the Dharma the mind is tamed; being tamed, it can cut off the darkness of ignorance and transmigration. Apart from hearing the Dharma, there is no single dharma that can tame the mind.'
