'Ānanda, after I had praised that Buddha with this verse, I made such a vow, until that Buddha said to his attendant: "After ninety-four kalpas have passed, this person will become a Buddha named Śākyamuni." After I received this prophecy at that time, I did not abandon vigor and increased my merits. For immeasurable lives I was a Brahmā king, a Śakra king, and a wheel-turning sage king. By the causal power of these good karmas, I became fully endowed with the four kinds of analytical eloquence, so that not a single person could debate with me and subdue me, and I was able to accomplish anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhi, and even turn the unexcelled wheel of the Dharma.'
