If a bodhisattva, toward the Tathāgata and caityas when not present and after his nirvāṇa, erects stūpas with the Buddha's relics, whether numbering up to hundreds, thousands, myriads, or billions, according to their ability, this is called extensive offerings in absence. Due to these causes and conditions, they obtain boundless great fruits, constantly gather the merit of Brahmā, do not fall into the evil destinies for boundless great eons, and complete all provisions for anuttara-bodhi.
