Furthermore, the Abhidharma-samuccaya says: Regarding karma of non-discipline, what is called non-discipline? It means slaughtering sheep, raising chickens, raising pigs, catching birds, catching fish, hunting deer, netting hares, robbing, being an executioner, slaughtering cattle, binding elephants, erecting an altar to enchant nāgas, guarding a prison, slandering, and delighting in harming, and so forth. "Slaughtering sheep" means, for the sake of sustaining life, slaughtering, raising, buying, and selling [them]. Raising chickens and pigs and so forth are to be understood accordingly. "Binding elephants" means constantly remaining in the mountain forests to train and capture wild elephants. "Erecting an altar to enchant nāgas" means practicing the enchantment of serpents and nāgas for entertainment to sustain oneself. "Slandering" means destroying another's relations through divisive speech, using it to sustain one's life. "Either by being born into that clan, or by undertaking that occupation" means being born into that family or being born into another family, according to the resolution in that order. "Definitely carrying out that karma" means, preceded by bodily and verbal expedients, resolving decisively to carry out that karma. This is called the karma of non-discipline.
