聖朝隆浮圖之教盛田衣之眾且謂契經至廣博習難周虞來學之童蒙昧出俗之本末乃閱寶華之藏遍窮貝葉之文釆義類以貫穿撮樞要而精簡門目具舉事迹該詳披其言則曄若春融質其理則煥然氷釋猶儒官之學記實佛門之會要也。

the Holy Dynasty exalts the teaching of the Buddha and expands the community of those wearing field robes; and observing that the scriptures are exceedingly vast so that broad study is difficult to complete comprehensively, and fearing that future beginners might be ignorant of the fundamentals of leaving worldly life, he therefore inspected the treasury of jewel blossoms and exhaustively surveyed the palm-leaf texts, collecting doctrinal categories to connect them together, and extracting the essential points with refined brevity. The categories and headings are fully raised, and affairs and accounts are comprehensively detailed. Opening his words, they are bright as the spring thaw; examining their principles, they are brilliant as melting ice. It is like the *Xueji* of Confucian officials, truly a compendium of essentials for the Buddhist gate.
