The Upāsaka-śīla Sūtra says: 'Better to accept an evil morality and cut off immeasurable life-roots in a single day than ever to keep and nourish vile and evil disciples whom one cannot tame. Why is this? The calamity of such evil moral discipline affects only one's own person; but keeping evil disciples whom one cannot instruct causes immeasurable people to do evil and can slander immeasurable wholesome, wondrous dharmas.' ○ The Bodhisattva-bhadra-śīla Sūtra says: 'Ordaining evil disciples destroys the Dharma; therefore they are called Māra's disciples. Considering this sin and fault, can one not be cautious?'
