The Mahāyānasaṃgraha says: 'By contemplating five points, one extinguishes anger: 1. Contemplate that all sentient beings have been kind to oneself since beginningless time. 2. Contemplate that all sentient beings perish moment by moment. 3. Contemplate that there is only dharma and no sentient beings: what is that which can harm, and what is harmed? 4. Contemplate that all sentient beings suffer on their own; how could one further inflict suffering upon them? 5. Contemplate that all sentient beings are one's children; how could one wish to cause them harm?'
