The Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra states: 'Never sneer at or mock others to make them ashamed and dwell in disquiet. Never, in their presence, disparage what they love or praise what they dislike. To those who are not close friends, do not pour out one's heart. Do not frequently harbor expectations, and receive things knowing moderation. If one has previously agreed to accept an offer of food or drink from another, never make excuses to avoid fulfilling the prior appointment.' The Nāgarāja-sūtra states: 'There are three things by which one constantly dwells in peace and security: namely, not being stiff and unyielding, not being flattering or fawning, and eliminating greed and jealousy. When seeing others receive offerings, rejoice on their behalf.'
