Ponds and pools (池沼: Kong's commentary on the *Classic of Documents* states: “Stagnant water is called a pool (chí).” The second character is pronounced *zhi* + *rao* in fanqie. Du's commentary on the *Zuo tradition* states: “A *zhǎo* is also a pool (chí).” Both are phono-semantic characters).
