擐鎧(上音患桂苑珠叢云以身貫穿衣甲曰擐今相傳音慣下開蓋反說文鎧甲也文字集略云以金革蔽身曰鎧今通俗以上聲音之為苦改反即甲冑也)。
擐鎧 (The first character is pronounced huàn. The Guiyuan zhucong says: 'To slip on and wear armor over one's body is called huàn.' Nowadays it is conventionally pronounced guàn. The second character has the fanqie kai + gai [kǎi]. The Shuowen says: 'Kǎi means armor.' The Wenzi jielüe says: 'Covering the body with metal and leather is called kǎi.' Nowadays in common parlance it is pronounced with the rising tone, as the fanqie ku + gai [kǎi]; that is, armor and helmet).
