壙野（苦晃反孔注尚書壙空也考聲云壙埌原野遠貌也廣雅曰大也說文塹穴也從土廣聲也經從曰作曠非也埌音浪塹音妾焰反下以者反爾雅云邑外為郊郊外為牧牧外為野古文作𡑀牧音木）。

壙野 (The first character has the fanqie ku + huang [kuàng]. Kong Anguo's commentary to the Shangshu says: 'Kuàng means empty.' The Kaosheng says: 'Kuànglàng describes the vast and distant appearance of an open wilderness.' The Guangya says: 'Vast.' The Shuowen says: 'A trench or pit.' It is derived from tǔ [土, earth] with guǎng [廣] phonetic. The sūtra text writes it with the rì [日] radical as 曠, which is incorrect. Làng is pronounced làng. Qiàn has the fanqie qie + yan [qiàn]. The second character has the fanqie yi + zhe [yě]. The Erya says: 'The area outside the city is the suburbs (jiāo); outside the suburbs is the pasture (mù); outside the pasture is the wilderness (yě).' The ancient script writes it as 𡑀. Mù is pronounced mù).
