刊梵言（口干反杜注左傳云刊除也鄭注杜記云刊削也廣雅刊定也說文剟也從刀干聲也剟音竹劣反剟亦刊）。

“Carving Sanskrit words” (刊梵言: [刊 is] fanqie 口 + 干 [kān]. Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: “刊 means to remove.” Zheng's commentary on the Du ji says: “刊 means to plane down.” The Guangya says: “刊 means to determine.” The Shuowen says: “It means to chop. It is composed of 刀 [knife] with 干 as phonetic; ‘to chop’ (剟) is fanqie 竹 + 劣 [zhuó]; 剟 also means to carve or prune”).
