法蠃（盧禾反爾雅蚹蠃[虫*(虎-儿+(一/巾))]蝓也郭璞云似蝸牛而大案螺者樂器也吹作美聲以和眾樂從虫蠃聲也經作䗍俗用謬也非本字言法蠃者說法聲如蠃鼓因名法蠃也）。

“Dharma conch” (法蠃: [蠃 is] fanqie 盧 + 禾 [luó]. The Erya says: “蚹蠃 is the snail.” Guo Pu says: “It resembles a snail but is larger.” Note that a conch is a musical instrument, blown to produce beautiful sound in order to harmonize all music. It is composed of 虫 with 蠃 as phonetic. The sūtra writes 䗍, which is a vulgar error, not the original character. ‘Dharma conch’ means that the sound of preaching the Dharma is like blowing a conch; hence it is called the Dharma conch).
