10.98

歧嶷（巨宜反下語棘反詩傳云歧知意也嶷識別也言能匍匐則歧然意有所知也其貌嶷有所別識也亦言六七歲也經文作奇非體之也）。

Precociously intelligent (歧嶷: *j[ù]-y[í]*; the second is *y[ǔ]-j[í]*. The commentary on the *Classic of Poetry* says: "*Qi* means understanding intentions; *yi* means distinguishing and discerning." This means that when able to crawl, one already understands intentions (*qi-ran*), and one's appearance shows discernment (*yi*). It also refers to being six or seven years old. In the sūtra text it is written 奇, which is not the correct graph).
