覺寤（上音挍下音悟考聲云睡覺也集訓云眠寤也說文覺寤也經文從穴從中音心從告作𥧦謬也撿一切字書及教字韻中並無此字多是筆授或傳寫人隨情妄作非也寤者悟也蒼頡篇云寐覺而有言曰寤考聲云寐中有所見覺而信也說文從㝱省吾聲）。

覺寤 (the upper character is pronounced 挍; the lower character is pronounced 悟. The Kaosheng says: 'Awakening from sleep.' The Jixun says: 'Waking from slumber.' The Shuowen says: '覺 means to awake.' The scripture text takes 穴, 中 (pronounced 心), and 告 as 𥧦, which is erroneous. Examining all character dictionaries and rhyming lexicons, this character nowhere appears; it was mostly created arbitrarily according to personal whim by amanuenses or copyists, and is incorrect. 寤 means to awaken. The Cangjie pian says: 'To awaken from sleep and speak is called 寤.' The Kaosheng says: 'Seeing something in sleep, and then believing it upon awakening.' The Shuowen says it takes 㝱 abbreviated as semantic and 吾 as phonetic).
