[糸*(林/肉)*(敲-高)]葢（上桑嬾反玉篇云[糸*(林/肉)*(敲-高)]即葢也通俗文曰以帛避雨曰[糸*(林/肉)*(敲-高)]從糸音覓𣀙聲也又𣀙字本作㪔從林枰拜反林分𣀙也今隸書相傳作散訛略也經中或作傘俗字也下[(网-ㄨ)/山]愛反葢亦傘也案繖葢者一物也說文葢從草從盍音合經文從羊作蓋因草書訛謬也）。

[糸*(林/肉)*(敲-高)]葢 (the upper character is 桑 + 嬾 fanqie. The Yupian says: '[糸*(林/肉)*(敲-高)] is a canopy (葢).' The Tongsu wen says: 'Using silk cloth to shelter from the rain is called [糸*(林/肉)*(敲-高)].' It takes 糸 (pronounced 覓) as semantic and 𣀙 as phonetic. Moreover, the character 𣀙 was originally written 㪔, taking 林 (枰 + 拜 fanqie), with 林 separated into 𣀙. In clerical script handed down today, it is written as 散, which is a corrupted abbreviation. In the scriptures it is sometimes written as 傘, which is a popular character. The lower character is [(网-ㄨ)/山] + 愛 fanqie. 葢 is also an umbrella (傘). We note that 繖 and 葢 are the same thing. The Shuowen says that 葢 takes 艹 and 盍 (pronounced 合). In scripture texts it is written with 羊 as 蓋, due to an error in cursive script).
