拯（支境反音取蒸字上聲是也韻英云拯濟拔也杜預注左傳云拯救助也聲類云拯昇也廣雅拯救也說文作抍上舉也從手升聲也）。

拯 (zh-[i]-j-[ing] fan; its pronunciation takes the rising tone of the character 蒸 [zhēng]. The Yunying says: '拯 means to rescue, to pluck out.' Du Yu's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: '拯 means to save, to assist.' The Shenglei says: '拯 means to elevate.' The Guangya says: '拯 means to save.' The Shuowen jiezi writes it as 抍: 'To lift up; it derives from 手 [hand] with 升 [shēng] phonetic').
