畋獵(上音田說文云平田也考聲云畋亦獵也或從犬作𤝗下力業反考聲云犬逐狩也今通謂畋狩為獵說文從大鼠力葉反聲也)。

Hunting: the upper character is pronounced *tian*. The *Shuowen* states: 'To level fields.' The *Kaosheng* states: '畋 (*tian*) also means to hunt.' It is sometimes written with the dog radical as 𤝗. The lower character has the fanqie *li* + *ye*. The *Kaosheng* states: 'Dogs chasing game.' Nowadays, both *tian* and *shou* are generally called *lie* (hunting). The *Shuowen* has it with the large rat radical and the pronunciation *li* + *ye* as its phonetic.
