階砌（上音皆顧野王云登堂之道也劉熙云階梯也說文階陛也下妻濟反考聲云砌壘也砌亦階也從石切聲）。

Flight of stairs (階砌: the upper character is pronounced jiē. Gu Yewang says: "The pathway for ascending into a hall." Liu Xi says: "A ladder/stairs." The Shuowen says: "Steps of a terrace." The lower character is pronounced qī-jì fan [qì]. The Kaosheng says: "Qì means laying masonry; qì is also steps." It takes shí [stone] as radical and qiè as phonetic).
