猨猴（上音袁下音侯山海經云堂庭之山多白猿郭璞曰似獼猴而大長臂便捷鳴則聲哀又猴說文即獿也今謂之猴孫俗曰胡孫）。

猨猴 (Apes and monkeys: the first character has the sound 袁 [yuán]; the second character has the sound 侯 [hóu]. The Shanhaijing says: “On Mount Tangting there are many white apes.” Guo Pu says: “Resembles a macaque but is larger, with long arms, agile and swift; when it calls, its sound is plaintive.” Furthermore, regarding 猴, the Shuowen says it is a 獿. Nowadays they are called 猴孫, popularly called 胡孫.)
