鄔波索迦（梵語也古譯云優波婆迦或云優婆塞皆訛略也唐云近善男有部律近事男亦云近宿男為近三寶而住宿承事也或言清信士善宿男者義譯也）。

Upāsaka (Sanskrit. The old translations say youbapojia or youbose, which are both erroneous abbreviations. In the Tang language one says 'man who approaches goodness'; the Vinaya of the Sarvāstivāda school translates 'man who attends upon services', also 'man who dwells near', meaning one who dwells near and serves the Three Jewels. Those that say 'pure faithful gentleman' or 'man dwelling in good' are semantic translations).
