聾聵（上祿東反耳無聞也見桂苑下瓦恠反考聲聵極聾也從耳貴省聲也經文從目作瞶非也）。

Deaf (聾聵: the upper character [deaf (聾)] is 祿 [lu] + 東 [dong] [lóng]; the ears have no hearing. It appears in the Guiyuan. The lower character [stone-deaf (聵)] is 瓦 [wa] + 恠 [guai] [kuài]. The Kaosheng says: '聵 means completely deaf.' It is composed of the ear radical (耳) with 貴 abbreviated as phonetic. In the sūtra text it is written with the eye radical as 瞶, which is incorrect).
