盲瞽（莫耕反說文目無眸子也從目從亾省聲也下音鼓說文目但有眣曼曼如鼓皮曰瞽從目鼓聲）。

Blind (盲瞽: the upper character [blind (盲)] is 莫 [mo] + 耕 [geng] [mēng]. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'An eye lacking a pupil.' It is composed of the eye radical (目) with the radical 亾 abbreviated as phonetic. The lower character [sightless (瞽)] is pronounced like 鼓 [gǔ]. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'When the eye merely has a filmy membrane, smooth like a drumskin, it is called 瞽.' It is composed of the eye radical (目) with 鼓 as the phonetic component).
