溼以（尸入反考聲溼濡也說文幽溼也從水從𢆶從土一覆也覆土而有水溼也會意字經文從日從絲作濕非也濕本音他合反水名也在東郡武陽）。

溼以 (Pronounced shi1 [shi-ru fan]. The Kaosheng says: '溼 means damp, soaked.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Dark and wet.' Formed from 'water' (水), 𢆶, and 'earth' (土); '一' represents covering. It is an associative compound character indicating water dampening where earth is covered. The sūtra text writes 濕 with 'sun' (日) and 'silk' (絲), which is incorrect. 濕 was originally pronounced ta4 [ta-he fan], the name of a river in Wuyang of Dong Commandery).
