刺殺（清亦反考聲云以刀撞也又音此恣反字書殺也傷也箴也從刀朿聲朿音次經文作㓨俗字也下山札反說文戮也法也從𠬛杀聲古文煞字也經文作煞俗字謬也）。

Stab to death (刺殺: [刺 is] q[īng]-yì [fǎn]; the Kaosheng says: "To strike with a blade." Another sound is c[ǐ]-zì [fǎn]; the dictionaries say: "To kill; to wound; to prick." It takes the knife radical (刀) and cì (朿) phonetic. 朿 is pronounced cì. The sūtra text writes 㓨, which is a vulgar character. The lower character is sh[ān]-zhá [fǎn]; the Shuowen says: "To execute; a law." It takes 𠬛 and shā (杀) phonetic, being the ancient character for shà (煞). The sūtra text writes 煞, which is an erroneous vulgar character).
