姿態（姉思反集訓云姿儀也字書云姿媚也蒼頡篇云容也說文態也從女次聲經文從心作恣非也且是去聲縱恣字也乖經意下湯戴反呂氏春秋云態度情皃也考聲云意變無恒也說文態恣也從心能聲也或從人作[仁-二+熊]也）。

Bearing and posture (姿態: [姿 is] z[ǐ]-sī [fǎn]; the Jixun says: "姿 means demeanour." The dictionaries say: "姿 means charm." The Cang Jie pian says: "Appearance." The Shuowen says: "Posture (態)." It takes the female radical (女) and cì (次) phonetic. The sūtra text written with the heart radical (心) as zì (恣) is incorrect; moreover, that is the falling tone zì of uninhibited self-indulgence (縱恣), which violates the sense of the sūtra. The lower character is t[āng]-dài [fǎn]; the Lüshi chunqiu says: "Posture and appearance (態度) denote emotional expressions." The Kaosheng says: "Fluctuation of intention without constancy." The Shuowen says: "Posture (態) means self-expression." It takes the heart radical (心) and néng (能) phonetic; sometimes written with the person radical (人) as [仁-二+熊]).
