Ankle and wrist (踝腕: the upper character is hu[á]-wǎ [fǎn]; the Cang Jie pian says: "The ankle (踝) is at the side of the foot." The Shenglei says: "The outer bone attached to the foot." The Shuowen says it takes the foot radical (足) and an abbreviated kē (稞) phonetic. The lower character is w[ū]-guàn [fǎn], a vulgar character. The Wenzi jilüe has it with the flesh radical (肉) as 腕. The Shuowen writes 𢫪, taking the hand radical (手) and huó (𪱙) phonetic. 𪱙 is pronounced y[ī]-huó [fǎn]. The ancient form is 𰯈. Zheng's commentary on the Yili says: "The joint of the palm." Yang Xiong says: "腕 means to grasp." The sūtra text written 捥 is also a vulgar character).
