卑愻（上卑字說文云從甲從左字統云稱甲立於左者卑也會意字也下孫寸反說文愻順也從心孫聲也）。

Humble and submissive (卑愻: for the upper character bēi (卑), the Shuowen says: "Composed of jiǎ (甲) and zuǒ (左)." The Zitong says: "Holding an armor and standing on the left is humble," being an associative compound character. The lower character is s[ūn]-cùn [fǎn]; the Shuowen says: "愻 means compliant." It takes the heart radical (心) and sūn (孫) phonetic).
