䆫隙（俗字也正作牎字書云助戶明也音楚江反說文在牆曰牖在屋曰囱象形古字也今隸書通作窓又云通孔也考聲云今屋兩端窓也下鄉逆反從白上下小經從巢作隟非也）。

Window aperture (䆫 is a vulgar character; properly written as 牎; the Zishu says: 'Assisting doors to provide light'; it has the fanqie 楚江 [chǔ + jiāng]; the Shuowen says: 'In a wall it is called 牖; in a roof it is called 囱, an ancient pictograph'; in clerical script today it is commonly written as 窓; it also means an open aperture; the Kaosheng says: 'The windows at the two ends of modern houses'; the second character has the fanqie 鄉逆 [xiāng + nì]; it takes 白 with 小 above and below; in the sūtra, written with 巢 as 隟, which is incorrect).
