缺減（犬悅反蒼頡篇缺虧也說文從缶從决省聲或從垂作𡙇缺亦通俗下甲斬反說文減損也從水咸聲也）。

缺減: [The first character is] quǎn-yuè fan (quē). The Cang Jie pian states: "Quē means deficient." The Shuowen jiezi states: "It derives from 缶 with the phonetic 决 abbreviated." Sometimes written with 垂 as 𡙇; 缺 is also acceptable in popular usage. The second character is jiǎ-zhǎn fan (jiǎn). The Shuowen jiezi states: "Jiǎn means to decrease or damage; it derives from 水 ('water') with 咸 as phonetic."
