Fresh flowers (鮮葩; [the second character is pronounced with the] fanqie pà + [b]ā. The Shuowen says: “Pā means flower.” It is also written as 皅. The Hanshu writes it as 芭, which is an abbreviated form. It is a phono-semantic character).
