老耄（下莫報反韻英云耄亦老也杜注左傳耄亂也禮記云八十九十日耄鄭注云耄亦惛忘也古文作𦹾說文從老從蒿省聲今通俗惣作老也）。

老耄 (the second character has the fanqie: 莫 + 報; the Yunying says: "耄 also means old." Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: "耄 means senile and confused." The Book of Rites says: "At eighty or ninety one is called 耄." Zheng's commentary says: "耄 also means confused and forgetful." The ancient character was written as 𦹾. The Shuowen says: "It is classified under old (老) and takes 蒿 abbreviated as phonetic." Nowadays in vulgar usage it is commonly written as 老).
