Spears and javelins (矛䂎; the first is also written as 𨥨 and 𢦵, both forms the same, pronounced with the fanqie mo + hou. The Shuowen jiezi states: "A spear [máo] is two zhang long, mounted on war chariots." The second is pronounced with the fanqie qi + luan. The Guangya states: "A cuan is called a chan; a chan is a small spear." Nowadays south of the Yangtze and the Xiang, the Xi people are skilled at using cuan. Chan is pronounced like 蟬 [chan]; Xi is pronounced with the fanqie kou + xi. In the sūtra text it is written as 爨, which is an incorrect form).
