戇愚（卓降反鄭注周禮云生而癡騃童昏者也說文愚也從心𥫔聲也經從舂作憃誤也音丑降反訓釋雖義同是愚於文義間語似不穩令故不取改從戇轉讀講說者知之也）。

戇愚 [Stupid and foolish]: Read with the fanqie 卓 [zhu-] + 降 [-àng] (zhuàng). Zheng's Commentary on the Rites of Zhou says: 'One born foolish and childishly benighted.' The Shuowen says: 'Foolish; it is formed from 心 (heart) with 𥫔 acting as phonetic.' In the scripture, it is written as 憃 using 舂, which is an error, pronounced with the fanqie 丑 [ch-] + 降 [-àng] (chàng). Although the explanation has the same meaning of 'foolish', in terms of context the wording does not seem stable, so we do not adopt it, changing it to 戇; those who chant and lecture should know this.
