如塹（妾焰反廣雅塹坑也玉篇謂城池也周書曰無渠塹而守是也亦謂之城隍也）。

Like a moat (the pronunciation is [the fanqie] 妾 + 焰. The Guangya says: 'Qian means a pit.' The Yupian says it refers to city moats. The Zhoushu says: 'Defending without canals or moats'—this is it. It is also called a city moat (chenghuang)).
