戒蘊（皆隘反鄭注儀禮云戒驚也考聲備也字書謹慎也說文從拜持戈戒不虞也下威殞反方言蘊積也馬注論語包藏也說文從草縕聲也）。

戒蘊 (The upper character is pronounced 皆 + 隘 fanqie. Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary on the Yili says: '戒 means to alert.' The Kaosheng says: 'To be prepared.' The character dictionaries say: 'To be vigilant.' The Shuowen says: 'Deriving from 𠬞 holding a dagger-axe (戈), guarding against the unforeseen.' The lower character is pronounced 威 + 殞 fanqie. The Fangyan says: '蘊 means to accumulate.' Ma's commentary on the Lunyu says: 'To contain and conceal.' The Shuowen says: 'It derives from 草 with 縕 as phonetic').
