猥雜（上烏每反廣雅猥也考聲云不正而濫曰猥字書云猥穢也蒼頡篇云猥雜也說文眾犬吠也從犬畏聲也下才合反字書雜和也考聲參也說文五釆相合也從衣集聲也案雜字正體從衣從集隷書取便移木於衣下作雜又因草書變衣為立遂相傳作雜失之遠矣）。

猥雜 (The upper character is pronounced 烏 + 每 fanqie. The Guangya says: '猥 means [numerous].' The Kaosheng says: 'Improper and undisciplined is called 猥.' The character dictionaries say: '猥 means foul.' The Cangjie pian says: '猥 means mixed.' The Shuowen says: 'A pack of dogs barking; it derives from 犬 with 畏 as phonetic.' The lower character is pronounced 才 + 合 fanqie. The character dictionaries say: '雜 means harmonious.' The Kaosheng says: 'Intermingled.' The Shuowen says: 'The five colors joined together; it derives from 衣 with 集 as phonetic.' We note: the standard form of the character 雜 derives from 衣 and 集; clerical script for convenience moved 木 below 衣 to write 雜, and further due to cursive script changed 衣 into 立, so it came to be transmitted as 雜, which is far from the original).
