醇醲（上順倫反周易云[醇-子+(日/羊)]粹精也杜注左傳云[醇-子+(日/羊)]篤也說文[醇-子+(日/羊)]不澆也從西𦎫聲經本從水作淳是清也非醇醲字也下女龍反淮南子云肥膿甘脆也說文云醲厚也從酉農聲經本從水作濃是露多貌也亦非[醇-子+(日/羊)]醲字）。

醇醲 (The first character has the fanqie *shun* + *lun* [chún]. The *Zhouyi* states: "Pure (*chún*) and refined." Du's commentary on the *Zuo Zhuan* states: "*Chún* means substantial." The *Shuowen* states: "*Chún* means unwatered wine. Formed with *you* and has 𦎫 phonetic." Sūtra editions write it with *shui* (water) as 淳, which means clear, not the character for *chúnnóng* (rich, mellow). The second character has the fanqie *nü* + *long* [nóng]. The *Huainanzi* states: "Fatty and rich (*nóng*), sweet and crisp." The *Shuowen* states: "*Nóng* means thick wine. Formed with *you* and has *nong* phonetic." Sūtra editions write it with *shui* (water) as 濃, which is the appearance of heavy dew, and likewise not the character for *chúnnóng*).
