"The measure of half a yojana" (Yojana is a Sanskrit word; fully stated, it is yojana [踰繕那]. Here it is translated as "conjunction", meaning that it is formed from the conjunction of many krośas. According to the twelfth fascicle of the Fo benxing ji jing: seven paramāṇus make one window-aperture dust mote; seven window-aperture dust motes make one hare's-hair-tip dust mote; seven hare's-hair-tip dust motes make one sheep's-hair-tip dust mote; seven sheep's-hair-tip dust motes make one ox's-hair dust mote; seven ox's-hair dust motes make one nit; seven nits make one louse; seven lice make one mustard seed; seven mustard seeds make one barleycorn; seven barleycorns make one finger-joint; seven finger-joints make one chi; two chi make one cubit; four cubits make one bow; five bows make one staff [daṇḍa]; twenty staffs are called one breath [or pause]; eighty breaths are called one krośa; eight krośas make one yojana. Based on this region's chi-measure, over two li and eighty paces corresponds to one krośa; thus one yojana totals over seventeen li and two hundred and eight paces. Alternatively it is said that one yojana corresponds to the distance between courier relay stations in this region).
