拔鏃（上辨八反考聲云拔抽也顧野王謂引而出之也說文從手犮聲犮音蒲未反俗皆從犮作拔非也下宗速反考聲鏃矢足也顧野王謂箭鏃也說文矢鋒也從金族聲也）。

Pulling out the arrowhead (拔鏃) (The upper character has the fanqie Bian + Ba [bá]. The Kaosheng states: "拔 means to draw out." Gu Yewang says: "It means pulling it out." The Shuowen states: "Derived from the hand radical 手 with 犮 phonetic." 犮 has the fanqie Pu + Wei [fèi]. Popular writing errantly writes 拔 with 犮. The lower character has the fanqie Zong + Su [zú]. The Kaosheng states: "鏃 is the foot of an arrow." Gu Yewang says: "It means an arrowhead." The Shuowen states: "The point of an arrow; derived from the metal radical 金 with 族 phonetic").
