菅草（古顏反爾雅菅茅屬也經文作葌與簡同葌蘭也說文葌香草名也葌非此義也）。

Cogongrass (jiān [菅], [fanqie:] gu + yan; the Erya says: "Jiān belongs to the thatch grasses." The sūtra text writes 葌, which is the same as 蕳; 葌 is thoroughwort [lán]. The Shuowen says: "Jiān is the name of a fragrant herb." Jiān [葌] does not bear this meaning).
