Canopy (huagai): (hu + hua [huá]. The Gujin zhu says: "When the Yellow Emperor fought Chi You in the wilds of Zhuolu, there was constantly a five-colored cloudy vapor with golden branches and jade leaves hovering above the Emperor, resembling a floral canopy [huahui], and so because of this he made the floral canopy." The character hua [華] is also pronounced hu + gua [huà]. In the Western Regions the weather is hot and people often carry canopies decorated with flowers; this is the banners, pennants, and canopies. Zhuo is zhuo [zhuó]; hui is hui [huǐ]).
