Silken mats and spreads (綩: Zilin has *ʔi-ywen* [fanqie: 一遠]; written 蜿 or 蠕 is incorrect. 綖: Sancang has *yi-tsyen* [fanqie: 以旃]. According to various texts, wanyan refers to cap ribbons, and yan is the covering atop a ceremonial cap; Yupian says: 'That which hangs before and behind a cap.' One cannot repeatedly lay cap coverings on a carriage; by principle here it should mean wan as in beautiful and yan as in woven mats and cushions, referring to decorated cushions, patterned felts, and exquisite rugs).
