丹枕（有釋枕著仙丹可以延壽此謂不然案天竺無木枕皆以赤皮疊布為枕貯以覩羅綿及毛絮之類枕而且倚丹赤色也即同諸經朱色枕耳頭枕倚枕悉赤如丹）。

Red cushions (some explain this as pillows treated with immortal cinnabar elixir to prolong life; this is incorrect. Investigating India, they use no wooden pillows, but make cushions out of red-dyed leather or cotton cloth, stuffed with tūla-cotton or down and wool, used both for lying down and leaning upon. Dan means vermilion red; this is identical with the vermilion pillows of various sūtras, where head cushions and backrests are all red as cinnabar).
