幼童（徒紅反古童謂僕今謂童子古僮謂童子今謂僕隷玉篇童子者謂幼童未昏未冠之稱無角牛謂之撞牛今應為童僮古字耳）。

Young child (童: *du-xuwng* [fanqie: 徒紅]. In antiquity tong (童) meant a servant, whereas today it means a youth; in antiquity tong (僮) meant a youth, whereas today it means a bondsman. The Yupian says: 'A youth (tongzi) refers to a child who is not yet married or capped. A hornless cow is called a zhuang-ox.' It should properly be written 童; 僮 is the ancient character).
