䶩齧（上相傳在詣反謂沒齒齩也切韻甞至齒應作䶩其䶩又為截音齧斷筋骨也不知䶩字所出有本作𪘨亦作䶩同竹皆反通俗文齧挽曰䶩恐錯為䶩下五結反噬齩也少噬為齧沒齒為𪘨又傷皮肉為齧少噬為䶩唯陟皆反為正餘皆非也）。

䶩齧 (*chi nie* [gnaw and bite]: for the first, traditionally pronounced *zai* + *yi* fanqie, meaning to sink the teeth into and bite; *Qieyun*: teeth reaching food should be written 䶩; this 䶩 also has the sound of cutting, meaning to gnaw and sever sinews and bones; it is unknown where the character 䶩 originated; some editions have 𪘨, also written as 䶩, both *zhu* + *jie* fanqie; *Tongsuwen*: "biting and tugging is called 䶩"; it is feared that it was mistakenly written as 䶩; the second character is *wu* + *jie* fanqie; to bite and chew; biting slightly is 齧, sinking the teeth completely is 𪘨; furthermore, injuring skin and flesh is 齧, biting slightly is 䶩; only *zhi* + *jie* fanqie is correct, the others are all erroneous).
