樝掣（上字林反側加反釋名云樝叉也。謂五指俱往叉取。玉篇五指撮也擊也抱也。切韻樝似梨而醋應作𭽷以指按也有作柤皻二形同有作𲎥䶥。說文齒不正非此中義。或作撦音車者反裂壞也。下充世反。字林拽也。字書牽也。釋名掣制也頓使順已。玉篇引而縱之或作摩同又尺折反曳延結反謂五指叉而曳之或以指按而拽之或復撦攞引而縱之也）。

樝掣 (*zha che* [seize and drag]: for the first, *Zilin* gives *ce* + *jia* fanqie; *Shiming* says: "樝 means to fork [*cha*], meaning all five fingers go together to grab like a fork"; *Yupian*: "to grasp with five fingers, to strike, to embrace"; *Qieyun*: 樝 is like a sour pear; it should be written 𭽷, meaning to press down with fingers; some write it 柤 or 皻, which are two variants of the same character; some write it 𲎥 or 䶥; *Shuowen jiezi* says: teeth being irregular, which is not the meaning here; or written as 撦, pronounced *che* + *zhe* fanqie, meaning to tear and break; the second is *chong* + *shi* fanqie; *Zilin*: "to drag"; character dictionaries: "to pull"; *Shiming*: "掣 means to control [*zhi*], suddenly making it yield to oneself"; *Yupian*: "to pull and release it"; some write it 摩, which is the same; also *chi* + *zhe* fanqie, to drag; *yan* + *jie* fanqie; meaning to fork with five fingers and drag it, or to press with fingers and pull it, or again to tear and pull, stretching and releasing it).
