魑魅（上勅知反說文作𡼁三蒼諸字書作螭玉篇切韻作魑下莫祕反說文玉篇老物精通俗文山澤怪謂之魑魅正法花𡝩魅古文魅[(魅-ㄙ)-未+勿]今作鬽也）。

魑魅 (*chi mei* [mountain and forest demons]: for the first, *chi* + *zhi* fanqie; *Shuowen jiezi* writes it 𡼁; the *Sancang* and various character dictionaries write it 螭; *Yupian* and *Qieyun* write it 魑; the second is *mo* + *bi* fanqie; *Shuowen jiezi* and *Yupian*: "the spirit of old things"; *Tongsuwen*: "uncanny monsters of mountains and marshes are called *chimei*"; the *Zheng fahua jing* writes 𡝩魅; the ancient form of 魅 is [(魅-ㄙ)-未+勿]; nowadays it is written 鬽).
