魍魎（上亾倣反下力掌反說文蝄蜽山川之精物也通俗文木石怪謂之魍魎玉篇水神也古文為蝄蜽也）。

魍魎 (*wang liang* [water and tree spirits]: for the first, *wang* + *fang* fanqie; the second is *li* + *zhang* fanqie; *Shuowen jiezi*: "The *wangliang* are the spirit creatures of mountains and rivers"; *Tongsuwen*: "uncanny spirits of trees and rocks are called *wangliang*"; *Yupian*: "water spirits"; in ancient script written as 蝄蜽).
