Groves and forests (叢林: the first character is [pronounced with the fanqie] 族紅 [cóng]. The Kaosheng says: trees growing together in clusters are called *cong*. Vulgar script writes 藂. In the Han shu, 'Biography of Dongfang Shuo', it is written 樷; neither is orthodox. The Shuowen says: gathering together; derived from [業-木+十][業-木+十] [pronounced with the fanqie] 牀學 [zhuó], and derived from 取; 取 is also phonetic. It is a pictograph).
